This Independence Day, Take The Oath To Save Water

We are just a few days away to celebrate the 73rd anniversary of Independent India on August 15. It is a day of pride for every Indian we celebrate Independence Day with great enthusiasm every year by conducting a Flag hoisting ceremony and singing our National Anthem, Jana Gana Mana. People gather together in the morning dressed in white, saffron, green or blue. This active involvement makes this special day memorable for everyone. But have you ever thought that the celebration does not end here? We need to act more responsibly on an individual basis to make our nation free from various economic, political and social issues. Water shortage is one of the most leading problems in India. Today, our country is facing one of its major and most serious water crisis. Water scarcity is due to both natural and manmade causes. Some of the main causes include poor management of natural resources, lack of government attention and man-made waste.

By bringing some change in our daily water usage and implementing some easy methods to address the water problems, we can certainly contribute our bit to save water. If each one of us acts responsibly towards water usage, then this issue can certainly be overcome if not fully at least partially. Penguin Tank recommends some changes that we can bring in our daily life to save water.

    • Take shorter showers instead of a bath and turn off the water while shampooing, lathering.
    • Turn off the tap while brushing, shaving or lathering hands.
    • Flush the toilet only once and not more.
    • Run the washing machine with full load only.
    • Soak the dishes before washing it
    • make a habit of reusing water wherever possible such as use the drained water to water the plants etc.
    • Place a bucket to save the dirty water that runs through the washing machine and use it for watering the garden, or cleaning the car.
    • Fix the leaking faucets, toilets throughout the home.
    • Use recycled papers instead of printed ones.
    • Collect rainwater for future uses.

By implementing these easy and simple steps daily, we can certainly save tonnes of water. Let us start acting responsibly and make our nation an Independent one in a true sense. Happy Independence Day!
